I have just posted my favorite restaurants in Hong Kong, so I decided to post my favorite hotels in the city. If you are going to the Beijing Olympics, do try to stop in Hong Kong. The city is fabulous: for eating out, shopping and the most intense urban experience. Hong Kong isn’t just about high-rises and neon. If you’re feeling stressed by the crowds, take a boat to one of the islands. They feel like remote Chinese fishing villages. Or go to Victoria Peak and gaze down at Hong Kong (see photo above).

Just in time for the Olympics. Hotel G, a boutique hotel, has opened in the central business district (Gong Ti Xi Lu), close to popular restaurants and nightspots including the ultra chic Green T. House. The decor is 1960s retro chic. Its 110 rooms whose names are easy to remember, especially when booking: Good (Studio), Great (Deluxe Studio), Greater (Suite) and Greatest (Deluxe Suite). The hotel has a split-level rooftop Mediterranean restaurant (with a Tibetan-style tent and open fireplace), as well as Japanese restaurant called Morio and a glamorous lobby bar for cocktails.
