Top 10 recently opened restaurants in SF 29 December 09

Since the coming of a new year is always an occasion for lists, here is my list of top restaurants that have recently opened in SF (recently being 2008 and 2009). They are restaurants I have visited and reviewed. If you click on the links below, they will take you to my review. I will create another list of my absolute top 10.

(1) Frances: Mediterranean-inspired cuisine in a cozy corner of the Castro.

(2) Nombe: Japanese izakaya in the Mission serving very delicious small plates at reasonable prices

(3) 54 Mint: wonderful Sicilian cuisine, excellent selection of Italian wines (downtown SF)

(4) Otoro: small sushi bar serving excellent sushi, sashimi and other Japanese small plates, reasonably priced, in Hayes Valley.

(5) Plant Organic Restaurant: delicious thin-crust pizza, salads and organic food (reasonably priced) near the Ferry Building

(6) Farina: Italian restaurant in the Mission serving excellent pastas and antipasti

(7) Beretta: another Italian place in the Mission, excellent pizzas, fabulous late-night dinner hangout

(8) Gitane: glam interiors, fabulous Mediterranean food and cocktails (downtown)

(9) Zare at Flytrap: Persian-inspired Mediterranean food (SOMA)

(10) Pizzanostra: excellent thin-crust pizza, antipasti, reasonably priced wines (Potrero Hill)
