Tel Aviv is getting a new stylish boutique hotel and restaurant. The Montefiore has just opened with 12 rooms, a restaurant and bar, in the center of Tel Aviv close to Rothschild Boulevard and the Bauhaus buildings. Until now, the only alternative to the large chain hotels has been the Nina Cafe Suites in the trendy Neve Tzedek neighborhood.
- Vibe: Modern colonial chic in a 1920s heritage building set in the middle of Tel Aviv
- Pros: Only 12 rooms, full service concierge, beautiful interiors; has a restaurant and bar
- Cons: Must reserve well in advance

Tel Aviv has so many excellent restaurants and bars, many of which I have reviewed on Mapplr, but I will add one more to your list: Yoezer Wine Bar in the old Jaffa quarter by the clock tower. Jaffa is an atmospheric little neighborhood at the end of the promenade along the beach. It feels ancient, unlike the rest of Tel Aviv, which is very modern and busy.
- Vibe: Set in an old stone house originally built for the Turkish governor; feels like a wine cellar with old colored tiles and vaulted ceilings; romantic, cozy and relaxed.
- Pros: Excellent wine list, classic French and Italian dishes.
- Cons: Challenging to walk back along the beach after drinking all that wine

If you have been reading my posts lately, you’ll realize I’ve been having too much of a good time in Tel Aviv. This is one city whose residents immerse themselves in a totally hedonistic lifestyle. Great food, parties till the wee hours of the morning, hanging out on the beach . . . It’s not a surprise therefore to find an excellent cafe in the trendy Neve Tzedek area called Cafe Mia, serving decadent pastries and chocolates in addition to good coffee, salads and sandwiches. Open for breakfast, this is a wonderful place to hang out.
Cafe Mia is a cozy cafe on two levels with white walls, next to a chocolate shop called Dolce Mia. On a cold winter evening I had espresso coffee with milk and melted Belgian chocolate, a sort of a mocha coffee only far better than those horrid artificially sweetened “cafe mocha” drinks that one finds in the US. The pastries are divine!
