If you are looking for an intimate, historic place to stay in the center of  Vienna, you should check out the Hotel Hollman Beletage, housed in a restored 19th century mansion. You can even bring home some culinary finesse if you choose to take their cooking classes, which focus on seasonal cuisine using local products in dishes with a contemporary twist.

The hotel is a two-minute walk to St. Stephen’s Cathedral; you can walk to the main shopping streets, Graben and Kaerntnerstrasse, in three minutes and to the Opera in ten minutes. The subway is only 2 minutes away.

Felix Suite, Hotel Altstadt

If you are looking for a luxurious place to stay in Vienna, but you want something more hip and modern (without being too sterile), consider The Ring Hotel across the Vienna State Opera. The hotel has 68 rooms, all of which have Internet access. The bar and the restaurant are very cool, not at all what you would expect from a place across an opera house. Although the rooms are expensive (starting at 275 EUR per night), what you get at The Ring equals or even exceeds the offerings in other five-star hotels in Vienna.
